Ouma James, 30 years of age is one of the men whom we have initiated in our ministry to grow collards and eggplants. He is married to one wife called Nabwire and God has blessed with three children, two girls, and one boy. His wife is one of the beneficiaries in Feds Uganda Ministries.

Initially, his wife used to share the validity of how the ministry is helping her get transformed in beliefs, practices, and perception about safe motherhood and child development. It was not until I did a home visit to the family, and shared more about the Horticulture Project that he was convinced to start to attend our programs.
James was trained in agricultural managerial skills and later supplied with seedlings of collards and eggplants to set up demonstration gardens at his home compound with the intention of reducing malnutrition. Most of his family members were malnourished, pale, and could be sickly due to poor feeding habits practiced. Having been trained on the value of growing greens at home, he noticed that “Vitamin A” is essential for boosting the immune system and supplication protects against diarrhea and respiratory diseases. Deficiency can lead to night blindness, therefore as a result food planning was a vital lesson to
explore.
Feds Uganda Ministries is glad that now he is able to sensitize others to the value of growing greens. In addition, his children are doing well, there is less expense of medical care, and now he has an income generating activity to increase his household income as he sells some of the collards and saves $2 daily. He has a plan of growing a hectare with time.
Therefore, by working together, we can bring a change of attitude as we break circles of poverty in communities. We are empowering women and men who in turn, promote the horticulture project because they are finding it sustainable.
We want to thank all the donors reaching out to Feds Uganda Ministries to plan, budget and use available resources to help vulnerable families have success in life.
May God bless you all!
