Auma, one time lost a child in the incidence of her grass thatched hut getting burnt. The child was three years old and the cause was due to using a candle for lighting at night which was placed near the canteen bed while the mother was cooking in the kitchen.  All the property got burnt to ash. This created a state of sorrow and misery to the family members and relatives.

Now to reduce on such incidences, the ministry through home visitations provided bars of soap, baby powder for a newly born baby of one week and a laten lamp for security in lighting other than using more of candles. We are also planning for solar distribution to make safer than lamps. This creates a point of child protection in homesteads.

Feds Uganda Ministries established a plate stand for Akuku Scovia whom the husband deserted for now five years. Plate stand is among others necessities that make up a complete clean home. She is a mother of four children and hygienically poor that resulted to her children falling sick. We realized that she had no skills for putting up a temporary wooden stand to hold her cleaned utensils from germs.

She is now utilizing her established plate stand as observed and through this activity we are promoting hygiene and sanitation in her homestead and saving Children’ lives from dying.

She lives a happy life and we believe that a life of these children and the entire family is safe from contaminations.

Friends of South Ministries Uganda has discovered that children need to attain the growth and developmental factors of shelter. As observed in images many homes are deserted/destroyed by heavy rains leaving innocent children and mothers no where to sleep. The situation is worse but with God everything is possible. We visited these homes counseled the parents and helped them construct their houses. Remember shelter is a necessity for child growth, and a tool of protection. Many of children and mothers come from absolutely poor background, they are unable to set up a structure and yet our finances are not enough to cater for them. Therefore as good Samaritans we echo to every one willing to stand with us in renewing the lives of such families. God will bless you remember your labor is not in vain.

Study under TreesFriends of South Ministries Uganda does not only serve mothers alone but also teaches children some elementary work of writing and reading. The biggest problem is that our beloved children attend their studies under trees which is very risky. Our teachers are determined to teach and bring up responsible and God fearing citizens in the country. Children at time hardly have lunch due to the prevailing situations and yet they love studies. We are sorry to say that partly our children are not doing well due to stagnation of meals, exercise books and other related /scholastic materials. However our humble prayer is that God paves way for sponsorship program to enable our children reach somewhere and become great in our community. Besides mothers are guided on how to parent their children in a positive manner by counselors. Many mothers in Uganda and East Africa tend to leave their children grow on their own under hard condition that makes them not to attain developmental milestones of growth. Others do not breast feed them for six months or two years as recommended. The nature of feeding is too poor and does not match with their age, whereas others are malnourished hence falling sick all the time

We appreciate the efforts exhibited 2015 in counseling families that had domestic violence. Many children had no Domestic Violencepeace and love from their parents. This affected their emotional growth and development. We therefore thank God for the love entrusted in Friends of South Ministries Uganda by cementing the bilateral relationship in seeing that children grow to the extent of achieving their developmental milestones.

Economic Activities

Friends of South Ministries – Uganda empowered a mother with capital to start up an income generating activity of piggery. Am pleased that the mother bought one and is able to draw her plans of selling the piglets when it has delivered and buys a calf such that she may get milk out of it and feed her child who is malnourished. Most often African children die due to poor feeding and nurturing styles that are improper. Through her interaction she believes that the ministry has transformed her life and at one time she shall be in position to help others too. She believes that through the practical skills obtained, she is able to live a sustainable live.
