Nekesa Jane’s Demonstration Garden
HOPE IN AGRICULTURE.
Nekesa Jane is one of Feds Uganda Ministry beneficiaries who established one hectare of land demonstration garden of planted 50 kilograms of groundnuts that contain root nodules useful for fixing nitrogen bacteria in the soil.
She has harvested twelve bags of groundnuts as a result of applying agricultural modern farming skills like organic fertilizers and composite manures in the soil that are chemical free. The gestation period has been of four months.
She plans to set up a small-scale business to cater for her family needs after the sale of the groundnuts since it’s profitable. Her children will gain good health as a result of feeding on nutritious nuts that contain natural oil and also to boost family incomes as a way of reducing abject poverty.
However, her biggest challenges were inadequate rainfall and hailstone that affected her demonstration garden.
