FEDS UGANDA MINISTRIES UNITED PROJECT
FEDS UGANDA MINISTRIES UNITED PROJECT
Feds Uganda Ministries is implementing a loan program called the United Project.
“The Need ”
The United Project was born out of seeing the need of the many women that were widowed, living with HIV/AIDS, or simply living in poverty. In keeping with all Feds Uganda Ministries is called to do, we do not want to fix immediate needs by perpetuating the dependency on others that keep these women locked in poverty. Instead, we partner with local women to empower them and create opportunities for them to help themselves out of poverty.
The United Project consists of two phases. The first phase involves participants receiving and paying back the loans through the MicroLoan program and the Tailoring Program. The second phase is the United Saving Project, a program that teaches the participants how to be good stewards of the money they made through Phase One.
The three programs are described below:
MICROLOAN PROGRAM
The MicroLoan program teaches women life skills so that they become self-sufficient for their families. How it works is an interest-free loan of $50 is given to a woman who qualifies. She places it into the community of other loan women where they acquire different skills and new ways to run a business. These skills include bakery skills, making table clothes, cake making, mat making, selling of sliver fish, vegetable sales, selling of eggs, etc.
This program is designed to empower women into creating lucrative or profit-making businesses to improve on household income and be in better position to care for their children. It also reduces the dependency syndrome on the ministry and reduces poverty in communities.

TAILORING PROGRAM
This program is similar to the MicroLoan program but it’s specifically for tailoring. A $100 donation gives a sewing machine to a woman who qualifies. So far we have 10 women interested. They are then taught different techniques and skills with being inserted into a community of other tailoring women. The community is taught business practices, life skills, and financial management. They compile their money together and then decide who the next sewing machine loan will go to.

UNITED SAVINGS PROGRAM
After women have gone through the loan program, they typically have money that they are not used not to having. This is when they enter Phase Two of the United Project called the United Savings Program. We teach them how to be good stewards of their money. The women meet weekly with their community of other women management. We also have locally made lock boxes to store money since it’s unsafe to keep money at home. These women also compile portions of their earning into a general fund and help others with a larger purchase that normally would not be affordable. This promotes women to become hard working in profitable income generating activities. We have the success stories and very soon we are to post them.
Please assist the ministry in these life-changing programs by donating $50 or $100. Your donation will change these women’s lives. Donations can be made directly to the ministry through World Remit.
